Job description:
An exciting opportunity based in Montreal, Canada, for a bright optical engineer eager for a challenge and keen to make a difference.

The job involves working within a dynamic environment, in a variety of roles.  It will include the design and development of free optics, micro-optics for collimating light from semiconductor lasers and coupling into optical fiber. The development of automatic testing platforms for semiconductor lasers.

Requirements;
Minimum of 5 years successful industry experience in photonics. Hands-on experience with semiconductor laser packaging (alignment, assembly and calibration).  Experience with optical metrology as well as its applications to optical fiber sensors and related interrogators. Familiarity with semiconductor laser characterization techniques is a plus. Knowledge of commercial optical design software packages, modeling tools, PowerPoint, Excel and Matlab programming skills required.

This person needs to be a hands-on creative independent thinker, capable of solving problems.  You will also need to be able to work as part of a team, independently and be capable of working to tight deadlines.

A Masters degree or equivalent in optics or related discipline is required.  A PhD is preferred.
